How the Fergus Group’s moderate-cost brand rolled out Roommatik self check-in kiosks across all its hotels, with a digital key on the guest’s phone and a look true to its brand identity.
The challenge: optimise resources without compromising the brand
Tent Hotels, part of the Fergus Group, is a moderate-cost hotel chain that combines modern design with attention to detail to give guests a pleasant stay. Beyond comfort, the chain wanted to streamline its processes and offer an advanced, tech-forward experience.
The goal: implement a digital check-in that would not only optimise resources, but also project an innovative, efficient image to guests.
The project came with three clear requirements:
- A look aligned with the brand: the kiosks had to blend harmoniously with the design and visual identity of each hotel, respecting the brand’s modern, welcoming style.
- Compatibility with the digital key system: the solution had to issue digital keys directly to the guest’s phone, integrating with the guest experience app used by the chain.
- Speed and ease of use: check-in had to be completed in a matter of seconds, with no waiting and a smooth, self-service experience.

Since 2022, self check-in kiosks have been installed across all Tent hotels — more than 15 devices in total.

Guests complete check-in on their own at the kiosk and receive a digital key on their phone when they finish. That key lives in the hotel’s guest experience app, creating a smooth, frictionless process.
To encourage adoption, every Tent hotel features a clearly signposted check-in area that makes the kiosk the preferred way to check in. Guests skip the wait at reception, and the brand reinforces its modern, tech-forward image.
